Long Week and Built to Spill

Another week winds down and I am ready to get out of town.  This week has been hectic really long with a slow work week and a tedious schedule I've been feeling like the days are just running together in one long continuous stream.  Thank Buddha its finally Friday.

Some accomplishments this week have been; learning HTML5 and Javascript, slowly getting better with my web developer ninja skills.  Its a slow process but slowly but surely I will get it learned.  I also saw one of my favorite bands, Built to Spill, last night which was an awesome way to end the week in Atlanta before I leave to go to Gulf Shores to see Emmalee.

The Built to Spill show was one of those for the local crowd I was happy to see so many people come out for it.  The venue at the Variety Playhouse has always been one of favorites in this area.  For the most part every show I've seen there has been a great experience.  The floor plan offers you many options from private table top seating, theater seating with a balcony, and a floor section for those who want to be as close as possible.  I fall into the latter category, and found myself standing right against the stage for the whole show.  Built to Spill did not disappoint they played through a majority of their older stuff as well as a few newer songs as well. I was most excited to hear "Else" played.  I have spent a lot of time in college and through high school listening to "Keep it Like a Secret" in fact I still keep that album in my cd player at home all the time and turn it on just about once a week.

All in all an excellent show at the Variety Playhouse.  A shout out to Sister Crayon and Helvetia for the opening acts.  I had never before heard either one, but was instantly made a fan last night.
